  • How do your products represent social groups or issues?

My music video represents love and romance as it is a love song. There is a symbolism of a white wedding dress, and a white T-shirt which represents the commitment and loyalty of love in relationships.

Teenagers can be perceived as older kids who have insecurities "I am a little insecure" this can relate to the themes seen in society for many teenagers, but when two people meet its brings a sense of a fresh beginning which is very authentic and meaningful to each other.

Class and status can appeal towards the targeted audience as seen in the music video because of how the young audience is able to relate as they all dream about being in a relationship and having this person to love and laugh with. The use of conventions in the music video can be seen as a narrative style as the dancers are dancing and creating a type of story for the audience while creating a mood of love and romance throughout. The other use of convention is Performance style, I believe that this was a good choice to add into the music video because of how it can be perceived. The performance style is when audiences can see people "performing" on a stage or in front of a group of people. For our music video we decided to add how the singers were performing in front of a empty crowd as it creates a sense of how they are two pees in a pod and cannot be split apart. The meaning behind why we created that scene was to portray a feeling of couple where if everyone leaves they still have each other and will always for life, which ties up well with the wedding dress and the dancing mixed and embedded as well.

The camera shots that we used where to create a meaning towards the love and romance theme, the close shots were used to really express the love on the singers faced, so the audiences can see their emotions in more depths.

Mid shots where used to show the singers and the stage they were standing on while cutting to more close up and wide shots in between, this helped the audience to really gather the feeling of love and feel all Tingley inside as they watched the music video.

The wide shot for the dancers was used to show the silhouette behind the dancers as the light shines on them. We did this because it brings a great effect to the music video and really portrays the love in a relationship because everyone thinks about how cute a couple is with a silhouette behind them.

  • How do the elements of your production work together to create a sense of branding?

The star image is a perfect way to create the branding image because of how Ed Sheeran is a really down to earth person who isn't worried about how people see him or how he is perceived. Ed Sheeran is a type of artist who cares about music and his family, whereas other artists are interested in politics and the LGBTQ and really love to show it and create a new image for themselves.

I created an Instagram account that is nearly identical to Ed Sheeran's however the posts and profile photo are different, even though both the accounts have got the same bio and captions with the website to Ed Sheeran's official merch website. I made one of my friends Oscar Ironside as Ed Sheeran in my music video and the main star in the Instagram, I posted some photos of my digipak to really give the portrayal of realism as how Ed Sheeran would.

The song for my music video is The Best Part of Me featuring YEBBA, the song is from the No. 6 Collaboration Project album that Ed Sheeran made I have gone with the same aspect of the album but changed it up a little to suit the Ed Sheeran feel but not copy it. The font and style of the digipak has the same feel and look of Ed Sheeran's albums.

The Instagram, digipak, and Music video are all linked together in different ways, where it be the font and style or the theme. I wanted to keep these the same throughout because that shows an aspect of similarity especially if it is relating to Ed Sheeran's star image and what he believes in.

  • How do your products engage with the audience?

My products engage with the audience whether it be through the Digipak, Music video or through Instagram.

Through social media it engages with the audience because of how the targeted audience I am trying to attract will all have some sort of social media, this is how I will be able to reach them as my music video will be on YouTube and clips of it will be on Instagram.

The music video is very predictable to fans as they can already expect Ed Sheeran to make a love song as he has made many of them before. This engages with them because all of his fans are all so eager to hear another one with the instrumentals of his guitar. I wanted to challenge using fast cuts in my music video because I believed that if I added slower  more meaningful cuts then the audience would engage with it more as they will still have time think about it and understand the meaning of it, however if they were fast cuts the audience wouldn't engage with it as much because they cant soak up the feeling i am trying to portray of love and romance, as it can be a slow and meaningful thing.

My Digipak also engages with the audience as the theme and colours are the same through the different sides of it, the different songs from the Collaborations album are easy to look at as well as the photo of both Oscar and Chloe on the back as they are interacting Ed Sheeran and YEBBA.

  • How did your research inform your products and the way they use or challenge conventions?

By conforming to the conventions I believe that I provided some normality to the way love and romance is meant to be perceived within all of my 3 projects. The camera shots are a way of how I could create a convention of emotion throughout my music video as they would show the expressions on the singers faces.

The dancing scenes created a convention of purity with the white wedding dress, i wanted to show the dress a lot to emphasis the meaning of purity as well as having a shadow on one side of the dances and light on the other side so it could create a whole other convention of how the shadows can bring along insecurities like mentioned in the song but the light brings a symbolic meaning of how "as long as you are with me then I am okay", this relates to the genuine and authentic relationship that they may have to always be there for each other through thick and thin.
